Rock for a Cause Schedule Announced

We’re only a few days away from the 2016 Rock for a Cause! We’ve got a full day of entertainment planned for Saturday, Nov. 12, that starts with our Top 6 bands: Trey Wanvig Band, Rickey Tedesco, South Trail Band, Bl3nded, The Tattered Saints and the David Smash Band.

These musical acts are competing for $1,500 cash and will be the closing act of the event. They’ll also perform at the 2017 Sarasota Music Half Marathon on Feb. 5 in the Rock for a Cause entertainment area.

For the first time, we’ll have a second stage that will feature performers from the Del Couch Music Education Foundation, which is our partner this year. Proceeds from the event will send Foundation students to the Berklee College of Music summer programs. Our 2015 winner, Paige Merriman, will also perform while the votes for the competing bands are tallied.

We’ll have DJ Joey D on site to keep the tunes flowing, and our esteemed emcee of the day will be Ray Collins from ABC-7.

We look forward to seeing you at Rock for a Cause on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2-9 p.m. on Main Street and Orange Avenue in Downtown Sarasota! Admission is $1, and everyone in attendance will get a ticket to vote for their favorite band.

Here’s the performance schedule for both stages:

Online Voting Now Open & More Ways to Get Involved

SARASOTA, FLA. — Twenty bands have entered the 2016 Rock for a Cause, and online voting is NOW OPEN!

Through Oct. 7, the public can view and vote for their favorite bands. The top six acts that get the most online votes will compete live during the Rock for a Cause battle of the bands on Nov. 12, 2-9 p.m. on Main Street in Downtown Sarasota.

“We’re so excited to see this event grow year over year with even more band submissions,” says Shauna Malgieri, chair of the Rock for a Cause executive committee. “We’ve got such a vast range of ages and genres — everything from indie folk singers and hip hop artists to operatic solo acts and in-your-face rockers. The public has the tough job of whittling down this impressive group talented musicians.”

To learn more about the bands and cast a vote, go to SRQRocks.org/vote. We’ve included band bios, photos and two songs from each act. Only one vote per viable email address will be permitted.
