Rickey Tedesco

I’m 17 years old and attend Venice High School. I have been singing since I could speak! Recently I started writing my own music, my number one song that i try to promote the most is my song called “Why.” This song speaks out about the problems and tragedies that occur in our very complicated world. It shows my purpose: I vow to inspire and share my music with people in order to be an eye opener for the world. Music moves me in a way like no other, it’s not about the money or the fame, it’s about spreading my talent to help others in their time of need and to change the world in a positive aspect.

Band Bio

“Seize the opportunity.” This is one of the famous quotes I live by. The most recent opportunity that has flown my way thanks to my guardians, was the Hank Aaron Scholarship Chasing Our Dreams. This opportunity has granted me with vocal and piano lessons at “Music Compound,” and dance lessons at “Attitudes in Dance.”

Being a 17-year-old junior at Venice High School, I am in all honors classes including one AP class maintaining a minimum of a 3.8 GPA. Involvement is a key point of my journey through life. At my school, I am a varsity cheerleader, varsity track runner, I am in HOSA club (Health Occupations Students of America), Girl up (a fundraising club for girls in undeveloped countries) and I am a band student playing the French horn, trumpet, and mellophone. I also am a volunteer at the Robert and Joan Lee Boys & Girls Club, which I have been attending for 10 years. There, I am involved in SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco), Digital Arts, Image Makers, and Keystone club (a community service and leadership program).

Being involved in Digital Arts, I entered a national digital arts competition where I won 1st place in the nation. The picture I entered was named “What do you hear.” It featured my favorite quote which states, “Music is all around us, all we have to do is listen.” Winning 1st in the nation I received a free trip to San Diego, California to meet the CEO of Sony Headquarters.

Keystone Club was where my most recent opportunity came forth. At the National Conference in Dallas, Texas, I entered the National talent show and received third place out of 70 acts. A representative from the Hank Aaron Chasing Our Dreams Scholarship noticed me from the crowd and granted me the scholarship, which lasts all of my years of high school. My dream is to be a professional singer and hopefully attend college at the Berklee School of Music. I vow to be an inspiration and to use my music as an eye opener for people all around the world.
