About

I’m 17 years old and attend Venice High School. I have been singing since I could speak! Recently I started writing my own music, my number one song that i try to promote the most is my song called “Why.” This song speaks out about the problems and tragedies that occur in our very complicated world. It shows my purpose: I vow to inspire and share my music with people in order to be an eye opener for the world. Music moves me in a way like no other, it’s not about the money or the fame, it’s about spreading my talent to help others in their time of need and to change the world in a positive aspect.

Band Bio

“Seize the opportunity.” This is one of the famous quotes I live by. The most recent opportunity that has flown my way thanks to my guardians, was the Hank Aaron Scholarship Chasing Our Dreams. This opportunity has granted me with vocal and piano lessons at “Music Compound,” and dance lessons at “Attitudes in Dance.”

Being a 17-year-old junior at Venice High School, I am in all honors classes including one AP class maintaining a minimum of a 3.8 GPA. Involvement is a key point of my journey through life. At my school, I am a varsity cheerleader, varsity track runner, I am in HOSA club (Health Occupations Students of America), Girl up (a fundraising club for girls in undeveloped countries) and I am a band student playing the French horn, trumpet, and mellophone. I also am a volunteer at the Robert and Joan Lee Boys & Girls Club, which I have been attending for 10 years. There, I am involved in SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco), Digital Arts, Image Makers, and Keystone club (a community service and leadership program).

Being involved in Digital Arts, I entered a national digital arts competition where I won 1st place in the nation. The picture I entered was named “What do you hear.” It featured my favorite quote which states, “Music is all around us, all we have to do is listen.” Winning 1st in the nation I received a free trip to San Diego, California to meet the CEO of Sony Headquarters.

Keystone Club was where my most recent opportunity came forth. At the National Conference in Dallas, Texas, I entered the National talent show and received third place out of 70 acts. A representative from the Hank Aaron Chasing Our Dreams Scholarship noticed me from the crowd and granted me the scholarship, which lasts all of my years of high school. My dream is to be a professional singer and hopefully attend college at the Berklee School of Music. I vow to be an inspiration and to use my music as an eye opener for people all around the world.

Trey Wanvig Band

About

My name is Trey Wanvig, and I am a 14-year-old guitar player and singer and I have been playing for a little more than four years. I play blues and rock and have played with many local bands around the Sarasota area. The highlight of my career was being able to play with Eric Johnson along with Mike Keneally from Frank Zappa and Joe Satriani’s band.

Band Bio

I started playing about four years ago when I was 10 years old. I took lessons from a teacher in Venice for those four years, and then started taking jazz lessons to broaden my interests for the past few months. I enjoy playing anything, but I love blues and classic rock.

Three-guitar harmonies, pulsing rhythm section, and a raspy-voiced storyteller combine to deliver a pure and anthemic rock & roll experience. The Tattered Saints, an ensemble of musicians based out of St. Petersburg, Fla., tell stories of the transition from youth to adulthood, putting music to the trials and tribulations and the victories and setbacks. The band’s love for rock & roll is evident in the high-energy and passionate shows they perform, having their fans leave the venue with something to laugh, grin, and relate to on the ride home. Band Bio
When I first got here I only knew two people – Steve Arvey and his friend Gary Fuller. Steve gave me few of his guitars to use for a little while and Gary, who is an incredible kazoo player, took me to almost every jam session in the area. Thanks to Gary I had a chance to play and participate in this phenomenon called a jam session. That was where I met my first band in 2012. I didn’t hold back on sharing my story with strangers I just met at these jams, they seemed like nice people. One night after jamming at Ocean Blues Club I got approached by three strange men. They said – “we heard you are looking to form a band. We would like to be your band!”. Bass player Jim Grove, drummer Dale Harris and guitarist David Lowe. That was the first version of David Smash Band in US. One of the nicest and most genuine group of musicians I’ve ever had a chance of working with. After about a year of playing together in various events and functions, Dave and Jim got a little busier with their work and families and Dale decided to retire. We still try to keep in touch.

In 2014 I started playing with bassist Joe Bruno, and I think Joe told me about saxophone player Allan Cook shortly after. I was always astounded at the level of talent that these people have. Before David Smash Band reached solidity of current consistency there have been many other players I am proud to know as musicians, friends and as members of David Smash Band family. Scott Blum, Bob Robins, James Lewis, Alex Hilton are just a few that deserve a mention.

Current band mates are Joe Bruno on bass, Alan Cook on saxophone and Sammy B. Warren the IV on drums.
