How Your Contribution Keeps Us Rockin’

When you make a donation to Rock for a Cause you are gifting more than you could imagine. The funds from the 2016 Rock for a Cause will benefit the Del Couch Music Education Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to give children the opportunity to explore the world of music.

Not only does the Foundation help children develop their musical abilities, but it also opens up more doors to life-changing opportunities. For instance, S-One’s goal with this year’s Rock for a Cause is to send five Foundation students to Berklee College of Music Summer Programs. Foundation star and Bradenton-native Sam Woolf, who was a finalist on the 2014 season of American Idol, got his chance to audition for the show while attending a summer program at Berklee.

In addition to a chance to attend a summer camp, the Foundation offers ongoing mentoring, performance opportunities and many ways for kids to explore their love for music in an enriching environment.

Here are just a few ways your contribution can help:

  • $100 gives a student one month of guitar or voice lessons
  • $500 provides a keyboard or a guitar for the Foundation
  • $1,000 helps create a full in-studio production of a 6-song EP
  • $5,000 is a scholarship to send a student to a music education summer camp

To get involved, go to our Sponsors page, email or call 941.256.7983 today!

Rock for a Cause Kicks Off with a Rooftop Party

The music was wafting down Main Street, Sarasota, from up above, thanks to the talented group of musicians from the Del Couch Music Education Foundation, which is our new partner for the 2016 Rock for a Cause. The Foundation stars, Paige Merriman, Matt Walden and Sam Woolf, helped us kick off the fundraising efforts for the 3rd annual event, along with some major announcements from the S-One team, all on the fourth floor rooftop patio of the Ellis Building on Main Street.

  • In addition to welcoming our new partner, the Del Couch Music Education Foundation, we announced the official date of this year’s Rock for a Cause, which is Nov. 12, 2016.
  • Rock for a Cause is coming back to the streets of Downtown Sarasota! In fact, it will be held right on Main Street at Orange Avenue, in front of S-One’s headquarters in the Ellis Building.
  • S-One announced that it will dedicate $1 per every order for the two months leading up to this year’s Rock for a Cause.
  • Funds raised by S-One and partnering sponsors will be used to send Del Couch Foundation students to the Berklee College of Music Summer Programs.

“Our goal is to send five students to the Berklee Summer Program,” says Angie Lane, a member of S-One’s Leadership Team. “By donating $1 per order for two months, S-One is ensuring that one of those five students will definitely go. We’re counting on our generous sponsor partners to help us reach our goal.”

The kick-off party was complete with a rockin’ auction, with generous donations made by New Jersey artist Jay Alders, 2014 Rock for a Cause winners, Seven Years Past, On1 Cycle and Tropical Beach Resorts. RFAC Winner Paige Merriman Presents Winning Check

LAKEWOOD RANCH, FLA. — When Paige Merriman won the 2015 Rock for a Cause, the high school sophomore requested donations be made to her school, Lakewood Ranch High School as well as the Del Couch Music Education Foundation, where she receives performance and recording mentoring.

Paige - LWRcropPaige is pictured with the school’s chorus, led by teacher Giselle Panagiotakis. “The Rock for a Cause event was amazing,” Paige says. “I hope the school uses the money to get a new piano and equipment for the choral department. I hope it all is well distributed and appreciated.”

The $3,500 donation to the school was made possible in part to a generous contribution from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, the charitable organization that awards grants and scholarships throughout the community. In 2015, the foundation donated more than $16 million in the areas of education, health and human services, the arts, animal welfare and the environment.

“The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has been an enthusiastic and irreplaceable partner with S-One’s Rock for a Cause during its first two years,” says Shauna Malgieri, S-One product specialist and executive committee chair of Rock for a Cause. “We look forward to partnering with the foundation again this year, as well as our new non-profit partner, the Del Couch Music Education Foundation.”

S-One Announces New Rock for a Cause Partnership with Del Couch

S-One Holdings Corporation is pleased to announce its new Rock for a Cause partner: The Del Couch Music Education Foundation. S-One and the Foundation will co-present the 2016 Rock for a Cause battle-of-the-bands event to be held this Fall.

S-One has spearheaded Rock for a Cause for the past two years, celebrating the community and its local musicians. In year one, rockers Seven Years Past took the title and donated funds to Riverview High School. Last year, 15-year-old sensation Paige Merriman won the title, with donations going to Lakewood Ranch High School and the Del Couch Music Education Foundation, where she is mentored by Del, has recorded a CD and performed with the Foundation’s other talented musicians, such as 2014 American Idol contestant Sam Woolf, and iTunes chart-topping singer-songwriter Matt Walden. Each year, the winning schools also received additional grant money from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.

“Being a part of the Del Couch Music Education Foundation and having the honor of winning such a respectable title has really put things into perspective for me,” Paige says. “Rock for a Cause showed me that I am, in fact, capable of much more than I thought. I can’t thank everyone enough who’s supported me and continues to do so.”

During the Foundation’s annual fundraiser, Heart of the Song, on March 19, 2016, S-One announced the new partnership. Funds raised through the 2016 Rock for a Cause event will be allocated to sending Foundation students to the Berklee College of Music Summer Internship program. The Heart of the Song featured performances by Sam Woolf, Matt Walden, Paige Merriman and One Night Rodeo.

“I’m excited to partner with a great community leader like S-One,” says Del Couch, founder of the Del Couch Music Education Foundation. “For these kids, spending a summer at Berklee’s program gives them exposure to the best music instructors at the leading music university in the world.”

Stay tuned to Rock for a Cause’s web page and Facebook page for updates on sponsorship opportunities, band submissions and event details.

“Our No. 1 goal with Rock for a Cause is to give back to the community in a fun and meaningful way, specifically ensuring that kids have access to music and arts programs – and Del’s Foundation is a great avenue to do just that,” says S-One’s Shauna Malgieri, head of the Rock for a Cause Executive Committee. “This event captures S-One’s family spirit while bringing together local musicians with some good, old-fashioned competition. We’re definitely ready to rock this year! Are you?”
